Lust is easy. Love is hard. Like is most important

~Carl Reiner

I’m a novelist at heart and I like to view my life like book. Or at this point a novelette with aspirations to an epic because I’d like to live to 103 and have everyone say I’m great, but no one actually get all the way through me without falling asleep. I love a good metaphor murder in the morning.

Anyway, novel head in mind, I would like to introduce some of my main characters:

The Love Interest: To protect his identity (lest his archenemy find him), here on after he will be known as Nox. Nox has put up with me for nearly two years now and for that he probably deserves a round of applause. He’s funny, only a little evil and so geeky that he has increased my geekiness factor by the power of ten.

The Pennys:

While getting my master’s in library science (more on that later), I made two really good friends and we all shared a house. A house named Penny. Then one of those friends got a boyfriend and he is now also a Penny by association.

Geo Penny: She’s on her way to a doctorate in geology and she has a very unnatural obsession with rocks. She’s also compassionate, sweet and die hard Star Wars fan. Seriously, her collection of memorabilia could kill a full grown man if it fell on him.

Law Penny: She is not above the law, she is the law! Law librarian extraordinaire, Law Penny is probably the quietest of the Pennys and the most likely to shock you with her stories of debauchery from undergrad. She’s a hidden geek. Looks normal, but kicks ass at Civilization IV and reads Mercedes Lackey novels. Her boyfriend:

Guitar Hero: Associate Penny. Notoriously geeky for so many reasons, not least of all was the intense customization of his guitar controller for his namesake game. Also a librarian.

The Parents :

I still live with my parents. I know, I know, I’m working on it! Moving out requires money! They will probably crop up from time to time under the ingenious pseudonyms Mom and Dad. All you need to know is that they’re very special to me. They’re also not…quite normal.

Now that we have that settled we can really get underway:

It was a dark and stormy night…

Catch you on the flipside,

Chic Geek Librarian
